Nightprayer – Answering Jen Groman
o my people
who have lived and passed on
hear my prayer to find me
teach me how to come home

o men and women
who have loved through this life
hear my prayer to be with me
in my dream sing tonight

chairsticks

o spirits and angels
who have loved me so far
hear my prayer
breathe your love
throught the flower of my heart

o Sacred Center
in the turning of the spheres
hear my prayer
be my Stillness
may my voice be Yours

hear my prayer
be my Stillness
may my voice be Yours

Night Wall by Dr. Jen Groman
October 11, 2001

Sneak away and we’ll scale the night wall
And look over on the other side
Say a prayer before you scale the night wall
Let consciousness subside
Think fast
Or there’s hell to pay
there’s hell to pay . . .

The bitter smell of a burned out building
Confused and frightened, I have lost my way
Children walk home by corpse-eyed soldiers
who forgot what it was like to play,
think fast
they shoot to kill
they shoot to kill

chair

Chorus

Look around at my devastation
Look and see what time has taught
Sit in the middle of my desolation
Look and see what hate has wrought

There’s a flash of fire in the distance
I don’t feel fear just disbelief
Lives lay in such fragile balance
Intolerance is a subtle thief
Close down
Hate’s all there is
Hate’s all there is . . .

In the middle of that blackened building
is a simple chair that looks brand new
I sit and I look around me
What am I supposed to do?
So much
For just a small guitar
For just a small guitar . . .

Chorus

Climb back on over the night wall
That burned-out shell left behind
Set myself apart from the darkness
Become a part of the light
Harmonize
With the vast unknown
With the vast unknown

And I play for you my small time poetry
Like a wandering troubadour
Try to see the art in hearts around me
Try to open up the door
Sing fast
And put dinner on by five
Put dinner on by five . . .

Sit Gentle: 3 Stor(e)y Mountain
October 15, 2002, by Dr. Jennifer Groman

Set my eyes on the mountainside a changing in my soul
Years before an obstacle but now so high a goal
Leave your wanting on the mountainside you’re richer than you seem
Gemstones wink of blue and pink remind you of your dream
Remind you of your dream

Sit gentle-still a long, long time
Sing the windsong true
Reflect upon the mountain and let it reflect on you, let it reflect
on you

chairstick1

There are white bones falling on
the pale mountainside in piles
so sad and
White bones gather here and
speak of mankind’s secret tale
mountainside, the sky a quiet roar
It seems like hell has opened up,
she weeps as humans war
She weeps as humans war.

Sit gentle-still a long, long time
Sing the windsong true
Reflect upon the white bones and let them reflect on you
Sit gentle-still a long, long time
Sing the windsong true
Reflect upon the mountain and let it reflect on you, let it reflect
on you

(break)

Young one walking on the mountainside so green and damp with dew
With a sparrow’s eye to see the simple, fine and true
Softly walks the winding path to the clear-glass lake
A picture perfect peak within, prays for reflection’s sake
Prays for reflection’s sake

Sit gentle-still a long, long time
Sing the windsong true
Reflect upon the sparrow’s eye, let it reflect on you
Sit gentle-still a long, long time
Sing the windsong true
Reflect upon the mountain and let it reflect on you, let it reflect
on you

(Break)

Sit gentle-still a long, long time
Sing the windsong true
Reflect upon reflection and let it reflect on you
Sit gentle-still a long, long time
Sing the windsong true
Reflect upon the mountain and let it reflect on you, let it reflect
on you
